We searching for an experienced and highly motivated DCS Controls Engineer for our client in Wilmington, NC. The Controls Engineer will be designing, developing, programming and executing complex DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS) across multiple process automation industries. Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design, development, programming and implementation of the DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCSs). Responsibilities include software (DCS, PLC layout, HMI approaches, Ladder concepts, Scripted languages), hardware (systems integration, instrumentation callout, panel layout, and construction), and systems design (integration of the various components on any given project).
  • Technical writing including project definition and requirements, clearly delineated status reporting, process control sequence of operations, standard practices and procedures, scope of supply, requests for information, customer correspondence, and code commenting
  • Project documentation: task/periodic status reporting, percent complete estimating, production and assembly of required project manuals, organization and maintenance of current network based project files, phone transcripts, meeting minutes, I/O lists, specifying basic instrumentation, etc.
  • Develops schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring.
  • Participates in initial start-up, debug / troubleshooting and commissioning integrated systems.


  • BS degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3-7 years directly related experience in automation process controls
  • MUST have solid experience with DeltaV projects from concept throught completion (design, program, installation, troubleshooting, commissioning ,etc)
  • PLC and HMI/SCADA programming a plus
  • Ability to work independently or as part of small or large team
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current authorization to work for any company in the US with restrictions
  • Must have a stable work history (no Contractors or Engineers who frequently change jobs
